A summary of the policies adopted at past meetings in 2008 is that we support high quality development AND REDEVELOPMENT in the southwest.

We define high quality development as:

1. Development that protects the health and quality of life of existing residents and Businesses.

2. Development that is preceded or accompanied by the upgrading of infrastructure and public services.

3. A funding mechanism for ongoing maintenance of all infrastructure and public services.

We feel these are minimum requirements demanded by social, economic and environmental justice principles.

2009

Oxford, Fourth Ave, First Ave., Second Ave. and severalother streetsin the Southwestern part of Chula Vista got sidewalks in 2010 and 2011 due to a loan from HUD which the city is paying back with CDBG money that used to go to street maintenance. A number of streets got paved due to stimulus funds. These are good things for our neighbors. The challenge will be to keep up the maintenance without adequate funding in the future. Right now the city is still falling further and further behind each year. This is a national problem.

SOUTHWEST CHULA VISTA

Southwest Chula Vista is the area south

of L Street and west of the Otay Landfill.

When you see a Pothole, please call 397-6000. They will try to fill it within 48 hours. Of course if the street is in very bad shape there will probably be another to call about soon afterward.
