Minutes of General Meeting of November 21, 2011

Call to order at 6:10 with 18 attendees

 

1. Motion to approve the minutes from October 24 made by David Davis, second by Richard and passed.

 

2. Introduction of our first guest Amanda Gois representing St. Paul’s PACE (program of all-inclusive care for the elderly) PACE has purchased the facility at 630 “L” St. for 3.2 million dollars, is in the process of remodeling and is on track to open in March, 2012. The goal of PACE is to keep low-income seniors with health problems in their own homes and out of nursing homes by utilizing a program of diet, exercise and medical care. 100% of clients qualify for

Medi-cal. These programs save the state 13% in nursing home costs, reduce hospital visits by 79% and reduce fall risk by 21%. PACE is actively seeking 300 patients for the new facility and can be contacted at www.stpaulspace.org

 

3. Introduction of Bob Coleman representing CCSE (California Center for Sustainable Energy)

This program is brought by the city of Chula Vista to engage homeowners who wish to participate in upgrading their homes energy and water systems. Now in the southwest section of the city, the plan is to save residents money utilizing rebates, low interest loans and incentives to improve their homes. Recommended improvements include: Insulation, lighting, HVAC-ductwork, windows, pool pumps and solar pv/thermal. Home assessments cost from $3- $79

Rebates are up to $ 13,975 with the average cost of upgrades before rebates of $12,000. Late in January they will hold a town hall meeting for interested parties.

 

4. Scott Tulloch from the city of Chula Vista introduced Anne Steinberger, the new marketing director. After listening to community groups she will market Chula Vista to help compete for business.
