Southwest  Chula Vista Civic Association

Minutes:  March 22, 2007

 

1.   Call to order: Meeting was called to order by Theresa Acerro at 6:45 p.m.

 

2.   Theresa introduced board members and each gave a brief report as to recent activities engaged in such as: fundraising, infrastructure grant, committee to save mobile home parks, filing for 501C3 status, and outreach for more volunteers. Discussed possibility of creating an education committee.

3.   Action: Norberto Salazar motioned the creation of an education committee. Seconded by Ann Storm. Motion passed.

4.   Theresa introduced Raya Drew and Juli Horka-Ruiz, Council Aides to Councilman Rudy Ramirez. They informed all that they are catching up on issues in the southwest and will relay such to Councilman Ramirez.

5.   Theresa introduced Angelica Munoz, Representative of MAAC Project who announced that there will be a lottery selection for low income housing, for the Seniors on Broadway Project at 845 Broadway.

6.   Action: Discussion and approval of minutes from 02/22/07 with correction and clarification that John Schmitz did not prepare Palomar Gateway plan. Motioned by Manuel Durazo. Seconded by Antonio Macias. Motion passed.

7.   Action: Motion was made by Dave Davis for SWCVCA and it’s members to support residents of any  Mobile Home or Trailer Park in the Southwest that comes up for sale or becomes in danger of being converted to some other use. This will include the formation of a Mobile Home/Trailer Park committee that will attend all meetings held by the city and endeavor to keep all residents, who wish to be informed, informed about the status of current regulations and sources of assistance. (The president shall be an ex-officio member of this committee.)Seconded by Jim Hunt. Motion passed.

8.   John Schmitz and Ed Batchelder gave a Power Point presentation on Planning Basics. Covered areas of fundamentals and tools of planning, legal framework, land use regulations and California Government Codes. Will address specifics of Redevelopment Zones and Palomar Gateway Project (zoning) at next meeting.

9.   Discussing, questioning and giving input regarding Palomar Gateway and West Fairfield held over to next meeting when Ed Batchelder will give a presentation.

10.         Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
