Southwest Chula Vista Civic Association
General Meeting of July 25, 2011
South Orange Library
Attendance: 26
1. Call to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. Synopsis of meeting: This event was a continuation of the SWCVCA history presentation using video, photos and personal stories and documents. As was the meeting in May, attendance was good with an abundance of enthusiasm.
3. David started with a section of notes from the centennial book by Steven Schoenherr. The Rienstra Dairy was a big part of this along with an aerial photo of this area from 1958.
4. The Don Alexander video interview was continued with Don and his family present. This was a very well done chronicle of early Southwest history.
5. A video interview with Dr. Anjennette McFarlin followed. Her story was the black history of Chula Vista starting in 1944. Anjennette went from nursing to becoming a doctor and from the family renting for $15 a month to owning their property.
6. Adjourn at 7:45 with a vow to continue gathering history of the Southwest for future meetings.
