minutes of board meeting 10/22/2010 at Balboa Realty

Call to order at 2:08 p.m.  Roll Call: Earl, Theresa, Jim, Jerry, David

1. Motion to approve minutes from 9/19 made by Jim, 2nd by Jerry, passed.

2. Discussion of the need for a volunteer to collate and send out the SWCVCA newsletter on a monthly basis. Result was that Jim Dowd will handle this task with help from other board members as needed.

3. Our next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 29. Ideas solicited for who we might invite as a guest. Possibilities: Richard Preuss from the Institute for Public Strategies to talk on public safety issues (gangs, drugs, alcohol, etc.) Also discussion of a local history

presentation by Ken Kramer, Peter Watry or Frank Roseman. David will follow up on that issue.

4. It is approaching the time of year to ask for membership renewals and plan fundraising for 2011. We will try to switch to a monthly membership accounting because people have joined or paid at various times during the year. Discussion follows on whether and when to have another yard sale. Since Northwest Civic is having one soon, we will wait until spring to plan having our event.
