CIVIC ASSOCIATION
Regular Board Meeting-
March 12, 2008
I: Called to order at 7:10pm by President Theresa Acerro.
II: Roll Call: Theresa Acerro, Kenn Colclasure, Derrick Dudley, Ed Herrera,
Bettie Lupi, Hugo Salazar.
III: Approval of minutes of February 13, 2008, board meeting made by Derrick
& seconded by Hugo.
IV: Reports: Discussed giving Scott Tulloch 15 minutes at next general
meeting to give update on budget issues & Bayview Power Lines.
V: Old business:
I: Voting on making these Associates voting members: Jim Headland, Jackie
Lancaster, Sandy Duncan, Norberto Salazar,
Georgette Gomez Moved by Kenn , seconded by Bettie, passed.
2: Voted on Ed Herrera to fill board vacancy, motion made by Derrick, seconded
by Kenn.
3: Voted to make Hugo Salazar Vice President of the SWCVA, motion by Bettie,
seconded by Derrick.
4: Discussed positions the SWCVA takes on issues that interest the
membership, Hugo stated we need to define work issues. It was agreed the things
we support are not necessarily work issues, unless a group wanted to volunteer
to work actively on them. Motion to affirm issues voted on last month made by
Derrick, seconded by Earl.
5: Membership recruitment efforts- Kenn suggested we could have block captains,
districts, and asked for ideas to approach for membership. Kenn also stated we
need out reach strategies. Earl suggested we have annual report handy to
let people know what we have done on the 15th.
6: Earl gave Progress on Candidates Forum. The group has met to
discuss questionnaire for the forum, positions on Props 98 and 99, the height
limits, etc.
VII: NEW BUSINESS:
I: Theresa made a folder to hand out on March 15- members were asked if they
wanted their phone numbers and or emails included.
II: Theresa stressed the importance of attendance at the March 15 event and
active participation.
III: Theresa also asked for help at the March 15 booth.
VIII: NEXT GENERAL MEETING AGENDA ITEMS;
I: See above re: Scott Tulloch
2: Business: Issues regarding traffic lights, parks, historic
preservation, graffiti, Charger's, Bayfront, water conservation.
3: Captain Wedge’s presentation
Meeting adjourned at 8:15, motion made by Kenn, seconded by Hugo, motion
passed.
