BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING at: 397-A 3rd Ave

Minutes from February 18th, 2009

 

  1. Call to order at 6:38 p.m. by president Theresa Acerro

 

2. ROLL CALL: Theresa Acerro, Ed Herrera, Earl Jentz, David Danciu, Jim Doud, Doc Howard, Derrick Dudley, Rick Montanez. Not present: Guillermo Briseno, Carolyn Macias

 

3.    Motion to approve minutes of January 26 byDerrick second by Bettie, motion carried.

 

4. Old Business: Discussed facelift type project to involve corporate sponsor with volunteer labor performing cosmetic upgrade to one low income household. Goal of a spring event. Discussion of recommended denial of MMC energy application for expanded peaker plant by subcommittee chair James Boyd hailed. Future public hearings to be watched carefully with Mr Boyd to be thanked for his support of community.

Discussion of Sales tax increase effects and possible options to end tax in 2014 if passed.

Discussion to increase membership to 2007 levels.

New business: Discussion of financial report and 2009 expenses. Ways to accomplish and fund community mural on Walmart blank wall discussed. Engaging college and high school students needed. Discussion of a new park for the southwest, possibly located south of the library on Orange Ave. Other locations also discussed, but near the library seems ideal to meet immediate needs.
