Chula Vista Library- South Branch, attendance 8

     Our guests this month were Angelica Davis and Jose Dorado who manage the HUD federal grant program within the city of Chula Vista. As a community, Chula Vista qualifies for HUD grants because we have met the criteria for designation as an entitlement community.

Entitlement Community Grants for 2010-2011 include:

1. CDBG Community development block grants....$1,900,000

2. HOME Affordable housing.....................................$900,000

3. ESG Homeless services........................................$89,000

    Objectives of grants are:

1. Create a suitable living environment

2. Provide decent affordable housing

3. Create economic opportunity

All of the sidewalks and curbs being built in the Castle Park area are due to this funding program.

On a typical budget of 3 million dollars the administration and overhead total is only 15%
