Board Meeting:
September 19, 2007
1.
Call to Order: Meeting was called to order
by Theresa Acerro at 6:10 p.m.
2.
Roll call: Board members present were:
Theresa Acerro, Betti Lupi, Jim Hunt, Karen Ratliff, Norberto Salazar, Marcia
Morris, Olga Durazo and Steve Palma.
3.
Action: Motion was made by Norberto
Salazar to approve the minutes of the August 22nd meeting of the
board of directors. Seconded by Marcia Morris. Abstention by Steve Palma.
Motion passed.
4.
Communications:
a.
Theresa
made a request for volunteers to call people on non-member list and ask them to
become members. Norberto volunteered to make calls.
b.
Jim
Headland stamped and stuffed envelopes this month. He volunteered to make
copies each month and make sure that envelopes get stuffed, stamped and mailed.
Please submit ideas for newsletter. Theresa is applying for a grant; however we
need expense reports to show that we are charity supported.
c.
October
meeting: The water conservation
people have been bumped from September. Josie says that the peaker plant people
may be able to come and make a presentation in October. Margarita from CVCC
wants to tell about her organization in October.
d.
November
meeting: The November meeting will be the Monday after Thanksgiving, if you have any ideas send them to Theresa.
John McCann asked if we would have Mark Fabiana do a presentation about
Chargers’ Stadium. To be put on November Agenda. We may be able to get John
McCann to come as well. There will be no December general or board meetings.
e.
Volunteers
are needed to go to all businesses in the enterprise zone to try to get them to
join SWCVCA. Guillermo has talked to those on Faivre in an effort to coordinate
businesses.
f.
We
need volunteers to go to Kiwanis, Lions and Eagles Clubs, etc. to talk up
SWCVCA . Jim Hunt has volunteered to go to the Eagles Club.
g.
Bay
Vista Walk: Stacy has responses to 20 pages of comments but had to turn them in
to the city attorney first. Theresa expressed the idea of hiring a public
interest lawyer to have this reviewed. Discussed concern about health issues
and environmental justice/possible lawsuit. Steve Palma shared concern that a
lawsuit may not be a good idea regarding building our membership at this time.
5.Indianapolis
Conference:
Steve and Norberto shared what they learned at the Indianapolis Conference, The
National League of Cities Roundtable’s focus
was Building Equitable Communities.
6. Motion was made by Olga
Durazo to adjourn meeting. Seconded by Betti Lupi. Motion passed. Adjourned at
7:30 p.m.
